August 2008 - My seventh month

August was a big month for me in my short life.  I spent some time on the road...We went from my house across five states - KY, IL, MO, IA and NE - to get to my daddy's old home in Omaha.  We met up there with Pa Pa and Nana Flo.  Daddy and Pa Pa had to drive their old Ford truck to Washington.  I then flew to Spokane with Mommy and Nana before the guys arrived.  After a few more wonderful days there we then traveled back across nine states - WA, ID, UT, WY, CO, KS, MO, IL, KY - to get home.

I wasn't finished traveling yet after that long three week adventure.  I still had to see my cousins James and Rylea for the first time and to see my wonderful Grandmoms T when we all met at a cabin in Virginia for the Labor Day weekend.

Matthew has a great time with Nana and Pa Pa

The birthday boys - both born on January 29th - Matthew's shirt says "Grandpa's little sidekick"

Matthew gets to meet his great grandmom Ida and great grandpa Tony in Spokane

On daddy's shoulders is like being on top of the world!

What do you do when you aren't big enough for a full size bathtub yet?  Bathe in Nana's sink!

Drying off is half the fun of bath time

Who exactly is the kid around here?

In Promontory, Utah two rail lines joined to complete a railroad across the United States.  These are the original trains that drove on that track.

This states:

National Historic Site

Golden Spike

The last rail is laid, the spike is driven, the pacific railroad is completed here at Promontory, Utah at 12:47 PM on May 10, 1869.  The driving of a golden spike completed the first transcontinental railroad climax of a dramatic railroad building race between the Union Pacific building from the east and the Central Pacific building from the west, this event symbolized attainment of a long sought goal - a direct transportation route to the Pacific ocean and the China trade and it achieved the great political object of binding together by iron bonds the extremities of continental United States, a rail line from ocean to ocean.

Matthew with a big grin at the trains that met at Promontory, Utah

A stop in Denver allowed Matthew to meet his great aunt and uncle - Alice and Marc

Hanging out with Marc - hey I have a Wimbledon t-shirt at home to match your hat uncle Marc.

Who is the funny guy here?

Ian with his aunt and uncle - what the heck is with that three week long beard??

Peek-a-boo!

When you have been on the road for a week sometimes it is just nice to let off some steam and wrestle with daddy in the hotel room

Having waaay too much fun!

Matthew covers down with a half nelson for a pin!

Finally in Weston, MO we met up with one of Mommy's best friends Becky and her two daughters.  I had a great time playing with them.
