November 2007 - Thanksgiving in Morgantown, WV

Now that we are back in the US we were able to take advantage of being close enough to visit family for the first time in a couple of years to be away from our home for a holiday.  It was wonderful to see Ryan & Courtney's home and to be entertained by their children James & Rylea.  Parents came from North Carolina and Washington and there was even a special appearance by the Applebaum's from Colorado.

We began the holiday with a wonderful meal prepared by Courtney, a large undertaking by anyone! Then we decided we should get a nap as those holiday pounds added on.

Yes everybody got into the sleeping act.  Lying right next to a future cousin inside Aunt Susan.

After a good nap we then enjoyed a proper game of TACKLE! - Which must be one of James' favorite games right now.

When the house became too small for tackle we took it out to the park and kicked the ball and tackled Grandpa T.

After a brisk afternoon in the park there is only one thing to do - go home and sleep or let your Aunt and Uncle celebrate their Aggies victory over t.u. with a warm cup of coffee.

Thanks to Susan's cousin Bill we were able to take in a game at Milan Puskar Stadium (better known as Mountaineer Field) where the West Virginia Mountaineers took on the University of Connecticut Huskies.  What we didn't know when we discussed tickets for the game back in October was that it would end up being the Big East Championship Game for the Mountaineers.  Way to go on the tickets cousin Bill!

One of the most impressive things to note from the game is that if you plan to be a future member of the Mountaineer band you have to make the shape of the state of West Virginia - not too easy as you can see above - does the University of Wyoming band do this too?  I wonder?

Huskies and Mountaineers line up.  As you can see they are deep in Husky territory, which is where they spent most of the game.  What we forgot was that we should have worn our RealTree coats so we could fit in with the local fans...

A beautiful, cool evening in Morgantown.  A good time had by all.

Dad T even gets into the spirit of the Mountaineer first downs -- Aaaaaa, uh, uh, uh (clap) First Down!

The game ended one score worse than this for the Huskies, we clicked this pick on our way out of the stadium with less than 2:00 to go.  The Mountaineers scored again with their third string on the field.  All this to win the Big East, and we were shocked by the result of the game the following week.  Of course all you Ohio State fans were plenty happy right?

After a long day of football what better way to spend time than playing with your Grandmoms?
