  Remembrance Sunday

November 12, 2006

Since this is our last November in England we decided to ensure that we took part in the largest Remembrance Sunday activities in the UK in London.  We spent time on Saturday the 11th - Armistice Day - at the RMP ceremony held at the Garden of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey.  Then on Sunday we watched the veterans parade down Whitehall.  You can see that there is almost a uniform for this weekend which is men in suits with bowler hats.  Something that we're sure Ian's dad thinks is pretty neat - what do you think of Ian in the traditional British hat?

Veterans, in bowler hats, march down Whitehall after the Queen laid a wreath of poppies at the Cenotaph.

RMP veterans wearing their scarlet berets march in front of crowds of thousands who thank them through applause that lasted for over 45 minutes during the entire parade.
