Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2006

The month of August gave Ian
the opportunity of a lifetime to work at one of the most important military
events in the UK, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Although Ian worked
with the RMPs for the security of the event it also gave him the chance
to live in the historical Edinburgh Castle!
The show provided lots of national
pride - the Union Flag on the castle and the Scottish Flag held by the
highland dancers.
The opening of the show on a
Saturday afternoon. Always a sold out crowd.
Pipers marching along the show
area. The sounds of pipes and drums fills the air.
The patriotic Redcaped Royal
Military Police.
Ian has some fun with the local
Edinburgh police that he worked with.
Lord Kitchener reminds the crowd
that the country still needs you.
The theme of the 2006 Tattoo was
the Scottish Soldier, shown by the badge of the Scottish Regiment on the
castle.
Scottish Soldiers formed The Thin
Red Line during the Crimean War.
My home for a couple of weeks.
Heck, they say every man needs his castle...
A beautiful view from the top of
the stands overlooking Edinburgh and seeing Arthur's Seat.
And finally...
During one of the final shows the
guest visitor was Sir Sean Connery - yes 007 himself. He gave us the
honor of a photo with the hard working RMPs.
