HM Tower of
London
Remembrance Church Parade
February 5th, 2006
|
The Royal Military Police Association enter the Tower of London in Red berets with Ian immediately behind (to the left in photo) of the Lt Col Regimental secretary. |
Ian leads with the former RMPs as the colors of the RMP and RAF Police follow on. |
|
At the top of the Tower grounds we did a left wheel and headed towards the Chapel. |
The parade in front of the Barracks at the Tower - see the castle looking columns behind us. |
|
After a beautiful church service with lots of singing we formed again, now in the bright sun and marched back. The Chapel at the Tower of London is the flat roofed, square building behind us - there are three of Henry VIII wives buried in there... |
Ian with saber prepares to lead the parade back out of the Tower. An active duty RMP stands at parade rest behind him. |

Step off.. |
Looking sharp with the RMP colors and Redcaps. |

A Yeoman Warder in the foreground ensures that visitors to the Tower this Sunday morning are out of the way of the parade. |
Ian and beautiful Susan (who was behind the camera for the rest of these photos) after the parade. |

|
Here Ian stands with a woman named Rose..Why? Because she is an RMP that went onto Juno beach with the Canadian's on D-Day with a section of eight women RMPs to gather up the women they thought might be conscripted and on the Atlantic Wall. |
Ian with two RMP Chelsea Pensioners. These men live at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea (London) and are retired after 22 years of service to the Queen. They are heroes all over the UK. |
|
Ian has the distinct honor of standing with the Chief Yeoman Warder inside the Warder's mess (bar) on the evening when he gave the RMPA a personal tour of the Tower of London and allowed us to view the Ceremony of the Keys. |
Here is a photo of the Ceremony of the Keys. The Guard in the foreground (in big bearskin hat) challenges the Yeoman Warder carrying the keys after learning that it is Queen Elizabeth's Keys he states "Pass, Queen Elizabeth's keys, All's Well." |
