Ian
was promoted to Major in October of this year. This marks almost half
a 20 year career in the military for us. Ian was very privledged to
have Susan, his battalion commander and his mother, father, step-mother and
uncle Ron be able to promote him. All of them are very important
people in our lives and we love that they were able to come all the way to
Fort Campbell for this occasion.
LTC Atwell, Ian's commander,
presents his Major commission to us.
A good crowd from Ian's office
attends the promotion.
Posting the order officially
marking the promotion to Major.
LTC Atwell and Captain Townsend at
attention for the order.
Removing the captain's bars and
putting on the gold oak leaves.
Mom, Dad and Step-mom get to put on
the oak leaf shoulder boards signifying the new rank too.
Uncle Ron pinned the oak leaf on
Ian's beret.
He said it was best that it was OFF
his head when he did it!
A commission that now hangs in
Ian's mom's home.
Ian says a few words of thanks
while family and friends look on.
