Crufts Dog Show 2007

Since we are in the United
Kingdom we decided to take the opportunity to visit the largest dog show in
the world - Crufts is the UK version of the Westminster dog show in New York.
Founded by Charles Cruft and first
run as an all breed show in 1891 now in its 104th year it has over 24,000
dogs from 178 breeds from 35 different countries.
Crufts is so large that it takes up
over seven large halls of a convention center in Birmingham. It takes
place over four days every March. Each breed of dog is only judged one
day. With this in mind and the fact that we have a personal favorite
breed of dog...umm Boxer, we decided to go on the day they judged all dogs
in the working group.
There were over 200 boxers to be
judged this day. Here is just a group of about 20 females.
Just laying around waiting for
their turn in the ring.
The cute faces made them too hard
to resist a good head pat from Susan. Above is the winner of the puppy
class, he is just 9 months old...a future champion?
Besides judging dogs Crufts offers
the best of the agility tests. Here a dog does the weave.
The breeder's stakes takes skill to
have four of your dogs from the same breeder get judged against others for
competition. All of these groups had to win at other events to make it
here. Winning this probably makes your breeding skills shown and cost
for your puppies skyrocket!
The Working Class group
championship that evening brought together all the best of that group.
You can see the boxer above being shown as the judge looks at each one
again. Below is the winner of the group, the Alaskan Malamute.
And finally the only real champion
in our hearts...
