Visit to Surrey
December 2, 2006
We finally took the
opportunity to have a wonderful Saturday afternoon with new friends, Sue and
Andy. They are good friends of Ian's aunt and uncle Alice and Marc. We
enjoyed lunch and a nice walk up to the highest point in Surrey - Leith Hill.
The four of us at the Leith Hill
tower.
The Leith Hill tower an 18th
century Gothic tower, with panoramic views northwards to London and the
English Channel to the south. Build by Richard Hull in the years 1765
to 1766, later to become known as Leith Hill Tower, with the intention of
raising the hill above 1,000 feet. The tower is 20 metres (65 feet) high.
An autumn view of Surrey from Leith
Hill.
