Harry Potter book VI release party

Of course being in England has some advantages to living in the US like everything is released five hours earlier and the latest edition of the Harry Potter series is no different.  Since Harry is an English child anyway Susan couldn't resist the temptation, as a former teacher and one who loves kids, to go see a midnight release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.  We enjoyed entertainment by a jester with what seemed to be hundreds of kids for some time prior to the release at a little bookstore called Ottakar's (renamed Potterkar's for the day) in Salisbury, England.
 

Here is Ottakar's bookstore during the day.  Notice a special sign placed on the front to make it (Harry) Potterkar's for the event.

Here is the line that wrapped past the Laura Ashley store next door and around the block.  These kids (and Susan) are mad!

 

This is the Harry Potter fancy dress (costume) contest in front of the store at about 1145 pm.

Here are lots more kids that are ready to go to Hogworts, one even has an owl.

Susan enjoys herself while surrounded by kids that were so excited to get Harry Potter that they were eating their plastic cups!

 

Susan is happy to make it to the checkout at 1207 am.  By 1209 while getting into the car we noticed two girls at a bus stop already reading the book!
