Musée du Louvre
Our meeting place with our friends was a simple landmark that most anyone can find in Paris, the Louvre. You can see here the entrance which is the glass pyramid and the older part of the museum behind it. And so we begin our tour through the Da Venci Code...just kidding! |
After our 1/3 of a day spent in the beautiful museum we stopped for a café (coffee) in the Jardin des Tuileries. A beautiful garden and the museum in the background. |
We enjoy a moment in front of Caesar in one of the rooms full of sculptures. |
Here is a view of one of the rooms of the area that was the apartment of Napoleon III. Look at the spender of the chandelier and the gold on the walls! |
Can you tell what this is? Yes it is Aphrodite, also known as Venus one of the most famous Greek marble statues from around 1000 B.C. |
Here is one of the few photos of anything in the museum. This was in one of the rooms that photography was allowed. You would not believe, or maybe you would believe, that most people just pay no attention to the rules. They were even right up close taking flash photography of the Mona Lisa. One of our most fun moments was watching a docent step up and send one photographer to the exit! |
