Visit to England
August 1-19th, 2006
Mom T's request was to see as much of Great
Britain as possible during her three weeks with us...so we put her on the
map beginning with the prehistoric monument of Stonehenge.
Then we found these Horton ladies their own
little village and a nice dinner beside the peaceful river Avon.
Horton was not the only village in England that
had a good name...
Wales
On a beautiful August day we found our way over
to Wales and visited Tintern Abbey as well as Cardiff and the museum of
Welsh life in St. Fagans.
Relaxing in the garden at the Welsh life museum
After some time in southern England and Wales we
headed north and found Hadrian's Wall to walk on near the border with
Scotland.
Our guests spending some time in the Lakes
District National Park
Scotland
A wonderful view in the gardens at Holyrood Abbey
next to the residence of the Queen in Edinburgh, Holyrood Palace.
Mom & Ian with the magnificent Edinburgh Castle
Alnwick, England
Outside Alnwick Castle, better known as Hogwarts
school for the recent Harry Potter movies
Has Susan found Harry's owl Hedwig?
Mom has Ian out looking for Hagrid and the
dragons in the forbidden forest...
London, England
Why are we at Monument station when we are
looking for Westminster??
After a bit of navigation fun we found our way to
Westminster Abbey.
Brussels, Belgium
Beautiful ladies, beautiful flowers, beautiful
city
When you're in Belgium what do you eat?
Belgium waffles with chocolate of course...
Finally a neat view from the grotto at Stourhead,
one of our favorite gardens during the entire trip.
We loved having Mom & Aunt Kathy visit us, just
like all our family who have been able to make the trip over from the US.
It was a great three weeks and we know that they will be giving more details
about the trip and showing plenty of photos as they visit some of you over
the next few months.
